THe Centurions knocked out of The ISUZU FA Vase

The Isuzu FA Vase

First Round

Cirencester Town  0 - 1  Millbrook FC

The First Round of The Isuzu FA Vase brought Southampton based MILLBROOK FC of the Wessex League – Premier Division to The Talent Hire Stadium and despite a dominant, but frustrating, performance from the home side a place in the hat for the Second Round was secured by the visitors with a goal scored just before the hour mark.

Cirencester immediately pressed their visitors who relieved the pressure by launching balls to their corners - managing a couple of shots in the process that were blocked - for the cycle to start again.

The visitors ‘keeper, Jon Webb, was by far the busier as he punched or caught shots and crosses, although Ronnie Newbery had to leave his box a couple of times to clear long balls over his defence.

Despite dominating the first half the closest Cirencester came to scoring was an Harrison Reeves effort that clipped the outside of the left post.

Within minutes of the re-start Millbrook created a chance as play continued in similar fashion to the first half, but just before the hour Cirencester put themselves under pressure as they moved the ball across their own box before Millbrook secured possession to send to the edge of the 6-yard box where JAMIE WHITE provided the finish.

Cirencester continued to press - forcing the visitors to rely on quick counters and one of these required a double save from Newbery to prevent them adding another goal.

Despite plenty of effort it was not to be and The Dockers move into the next round.
