Come and celebrate Cirencester Town's 125th Anniversary with us at our First Team home match against Arlesey Town on Saturday 28th March 2015

CIRENCESTER TOWN FC believe they have a fighting chance of breaking their record attendance for a Southern League game when they hold their 125th anniversary celebrations on Saturday, March 28 at the Corinium Stadium – but they need your help.

The first team will be taking on Arlesey Town in a 3pm kick-off as they bid to follow up their championship-winning season in 2013/14 with promotion from the Southern Premier.

And the call has gone out to all former players, coaches, managers and supporters alike to come back and enjoy the anniversary party.

Of course, it is not just for those formerly connected with the club, anyone is welcome to come along and help celebrate the success story on the edge of town.

This season, under the astute guidance of manager Brian Hughes and chairman Steve Abbley, Cirencester Town have been as high as second in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier League – the loftiest position in the club’s long history.

Tickets for the 125th anniversary game on the day have been reduced to £5 for adults and £3 for concessions and all U16s go free.

There will be host of memorabilia on display including photos, programmes, old handbooks and account books going back to 1950.

“This has really started to take off,” said the club’s office manager and former striker Scott Griffin. “We have more than 160 people confirmed as attending already, with lots of old faces from the Smithsfield and also Somerford Road days, and I am hoping that a lot more are still to come on board.

“At worst we will have 300 plus and there is a realistic chance we can get to the record gate of 474.

“There are hundreds of names on the club’s database but many have no current contact details. So anyone with past connections to the club should get in touch and we can get tickets to them in advance. But everyone can pay on the day at the turnstiles.

“Among the former club legends who have pledged to come are: Derek Porch, Brian ‘Curly’ Reed, Kevin ‘Pasty’ Bailey, Ady Roper, Pete Lango, Lyndon Tomkins, Chris Thompson, Stuart ‘Gus’ Fraser and Darren Robison. And we will have eight of the 2009/10 play-off winning side as well.”

“There will be an evening party with free food and entertainment so everyone can catch up with old friends and share some great stories.”
