Cirencester Town 4 - 4 Hereford Pegasus
Cirencester returned to The Talent Hire Stadium for an Uhlsport Hellenic League – Premier Division fixture against HEREFORD PEGASUS and despite a strong start – with a goal in the opening minute and a 3-2 lead at the interval - it took a late Penalty Kick to share the spoils in an entertaining, eight-goal thriller.
The home side kicked-off and were awarded a free kick in the opening minute that resulted in ED SCOTT smashing the ball into the roof of the net to open the scoring.
Cirencester continued to dominate play in the opening quarter with JONTY WELCH adding a second before the visitors reduced the deficit when JACK CRESSWELL scored five minutes later.
Encouraged ‘The Redmen’ levelled shortly afterwards when JORDAN WILLIAMSON headed a deep cross in at the back post but Cirencester regained the lead a minute later when HARLIE PRICE nipped in to lob an advancing ‘keeper.
Ten minutes after the interval Hereford levelled as JORDAN WILLIAMSON lashed the ball inside the left post following a couple of blocks inside the home box and at the hour-mark they took the lead when a free kick was headed down for HARRISON SUMMERS to drive into the net from a few yards.
Undeterred The Centurions continued to press forward and equalised when HARLIE PRICE scored from the Penalty Spot.
As the game was drawing to a close home ‘keeper Ronnie Newbery produced a terrific save to deny Williamson his hat-trick and the visitors the three points.
