Battling performance secures first league victory of the season for The Centurions

Uhlsport Hellenic League
Premier Division
Cinderford Town 1 - 4 Cirencester Town
Cirencester made the journey across the County to meet CINDERFORD TOWN at The Causeway in their latest Uhlsport Hellenic League – Premier Division fixture and battled hard to overcome their hosts and the dreadful weather conditions to record their first league victory of the season.
Cirencester started positively as they took the game to their hosts, who mounted a couple of counter attacks, and at the mid-point of the half had a ‘goal’ disallowed for a foul.
Three minutes later THEO JEREMY opened the scoring for the visitors when he cut along the front edge of the home box to fire inside the right post.
The Foresters responded to the setback as they pressed with more conviction and Cirencester survived a scramble in the 6-yard box before the visitors added a second when HARLIE PRICE turned sharply to score in ‘added-time’.
After the interval Cinderford pressed hard to open their account as the Cirencester defence stood firm to deny them but as the game entered the final quarter they were finally rewarded when LEWIS POWELL converted a cross.
As Cinderford pressed it was Cirencester that mounted counter attacks and as the game entered the final ten minutes NICK PEARE smashed the ball from 30-yards inside the right post to regain the two-goal cushion.
Cirencester confirmed the victory in ‘added-time’ when FRASER BELL blocked an attempted pass before charging down the centre to round the ‘keeper and tuck into the net.
