The Centurions superb Second Leg performance wins the Floodlit Cup Final

Wiseman Lighting (UHL) Floodlit Cup

Final – Second Leg

  Westfields FC  1 - 3  Cirencester Town

The Centurions travelled to Allpay Park, Hereford for the Second Leg of the Wiseman Lighting (UHL) Floodlit Cup Final with ‘all-to-play-for’, following their 2-2 draw with WESTFIELDS FC at The Talent Hire Stadium in the First Leg, and produced a hard-working, professional performance to win the competition.

The game started at a fast pace as within the first five minutes Harrison Reeves had a shot blocked for the rebound to be fired over the target, and a few minutes later a Finley Bell corner kick is headed goalward by Ross Gabriel and eventually cleared.

Either side of the 15-minute mark ROSS GABRIEL scores a brace – the first a close-range finish and the second a fine header inside the right post from a corner kick.

Shortly after Finley Bell had an effort deflected for a corner kick the home side had the ball in the back of the Cirencester net but ruled out for ‘offside’ and a couple of minutes later Dan Stoneman is denied by a fine save from Ronnie Newbery.

Within five minutes of the re-start Newbery makes another fine save to deny Stoneman and Finley Bell hits the side-netting following some intricate footwork.

This is soon followed by Kyle Pitts heading a Jack Horrell free kick across the goal and out of play.

At the mid-point Newbery produces yet another fine save to deny the hosts before FINLEY BELL latches on to a rebound and curls it into the top left corner to give Cirencester a three-goal advantage.

The home side respond soon after as DAN STONEMAN finally gets his goal and a Mason Godsall effort is diverted for a corner kick.

Once again Westfields get the ball in the net but it is ruled out and a free kick awarded to Cirencester.

As the home side press they are denied again by Newbery and Cirencester dig-in to run out WINNERS of the WISEMAN LIGHTING (UHL) FLOODLIT CUP
