The Centurions into the Quarter Final of the Floodlit Cup following 6-goal thriller

Wiseman Lighting (UHL) Floodlit Cup

Third Round

Cirencester Town  4 - 2  Corsham Town

Following a highly entertaining, end-to-end, six-goal thriller of a cup-tie The Centurions moved into the Quarter Final of the competition by overcoming The Quarrymen of CORSHAM TOWN.

The match started at a frantic pace and remained so throughout with plenty of ‘end-to-end’ football as both sides battled for supremacy but it was the home side that made the early breakthrough when BONSA TESHOME continued his good form to open his account after 9-minutes with a firm strike inside the near post from a narrow angle.

The visitors equalised 20 minutes later when THEO JEREMY latched onto a cross-field free kick before advancing and driving it under home custodian Ronnie Newbery.

A few minutes before the interval Cirencester regained the lead when ROSS GABRIEL headed a corner kick back across the goal and inside the far-left post.

Within a couple of minutes of the re-start The Quarrymen were level again when a headed clearance from a corner kick was fed to BRADEN HUMPHREYS who tucked it into the corner.

At the mid-point of the second half Corsham had the ball in the net but it was disallowed for ‘offside’ and Cirencester responded as ED TAYLOR produced a superb volley to bypass the advancing ‘keeper.

In ‘added-time’ BONSA TESHOME scored his second to put the tie beyond the visitors and The Centurions advanced into the next round of the competition.
