Worcester Raiders 2 - 2 Cirencester Town
The Centurions travelled to the Sixways Stadium, former home of Rugby Union side Worcester Warriors, to face WORCESTER RAIDERS and after a competitive game, played in difficult conditions due to Storm Darragh, came away with a point.
Both sides struggled to deal with the conditions during the first quarter but with the wind behind them the home side tried a couple of long-range strikes that ‘keeper Ronnie Newbery did well to save and not to be outdone the home ‘keeper, Charlie Emery, pulled off a double save to deny Finley Bell and Ross Gabriel.
As the game entered the second quarter both ‘keepers were once again called into action – Newbery to prevent a low strike from close range by Toby Moran and Emery to deny Gabriel in a 1v1.
Shortly afterwards Newbery produced a sensational dive to push Liam Banks long-range strike onto the bar.
Five minutes before the interval a great strike from FINLEY BELL finally evaded Emery to open the scoring.
Shortly before the hour Cirencester doubled their lead when JACK FREEMAN stole the ball off the last defender and tucked it into the home net.
Five minutes later the home side reduced the arrears when JAMES DOUGLAS converted a Penalty Kick.
As the game entered the final quarter the home side were making a determined effort and three minutes from time they were rewarded when JUDE HILL volleyed the ball into the net to level.
A couple of minutes later Cirencester nearly snatched victory back but Jack Freeman’s effort flew over the bar.
