'The Saltmen' avenge their November loss to 'The Centurions'

Uhlsport Hellenic League
Premier Division
Droitwich Spa 3 - 0 Cirencester Town
The Centurions travelled to Worcestershire for an evening Uhlsport Hellenic League – Premier Division fixture against fourth placed DROITWICH SPA and after a promising start they conceded three scruffy goals – two of them within 8-minutes of a contentious refereeing decision that went against the visitors – enabling the home side to avenge their 5-1 defeat at the hands of Cirencester in November.
Both sides started positively but the visitors created a couple of 1v1 chances against ‘keeper Joe Stockton before he survived a contentious refereeing decision, when he was only awarded a Yellow Card, after leaving his box to crash into Harlie Price after he had burst through the home defence.
Within three minutes of this decision the visitors conceded the first of two scruffy goals in an eight-minute period as they failed to clear the ball from their box - the first being converted by PERRY MOSS and the second by JAMES LEMON.
Cirencester rallied after the setback but could not find a way through the no-nonsense home defence and the game became very scrappy leading up to the interval with both sides having periods of possession.
Droitwich increased their lead early in the second half as an innocuous free kick looked to be covered by ‘keeper Ronnie Newbery until an attempted clearance resulted in the ball rebounding off the ’keeper for a scramble before JAMES LEMON once again drove it into the net.
Despite plenty of effort The Centurions could not make the breakthrough as they pressed their hosts in the final stages.
