The Raiders 9-men secure victory with last kick of the game

Uhlsport Hellenic League
Premier Division
Cirencester Town 1 - 2 Worcester Raiders
The Centurions first game in February brought WORCESTER RAIDERS to The Talent Hire Stadium for an Uhlsport Hellenic League – Premier Division fixture and after a competitive, scrappy game, due to the number of Free Kicks and Cards awarded, the 9-men of The Raiders secured the 3-points with the last kick of the game.
The opening quarter was fairly balanced but mid-way through the second an incisive pass from the visitors was collected by Bailey Fuller who ‘chipped’ the approaching Ronnie Newbery for ADAM TAYLOR to finish from a couple of yards.
Cirencester responded with counter attacks but couldn’t find a way through and at the interval the visitors were pressing.
The home side opened the second half strongly but some neat football and a clever ‘back-heel’ from the visitors released Jordan Murphy for a firm strike towards the top right corner that Newbery pushed over.
Around the hour mark Cirencester changed their formation and personnel and almost immediately a free kick produced a scramble in the visitor’s box that ended with GEORGE PEARE tucking a rebound into the net from close range.
Cirencester pressed forward but a quick counter from their visitors created a clear chance for Prince Henry and his strike was diverted wide of his right post by a diving Newbery.
A few minutes later The Raiders were reduced to ten men and as the game became littered with free kicks both sides were reduced further before a free kick provided the chance in the final seconds for CAM MONTEITH to divert the ball into the net for victory.
