The Holders surrender the Floodlit Cup in the First Round

Wiseman Lighting (UHL) Floodlit Cup
First Round
Cirencester Town 1 - 4 Malmesbury Victoria
The Centurions returned to The Talent Hire Stadium for a Wiseman Lighting (UHL) Floodlit Cup – First Round fixture, following their best of seven goal away victory on Saturday, and were taken to task by neighbours MALMESBURY VICTORIA who produced a clinical display to knock their hosts, and current Floodlit Cup holders, out of the competition.
Cirencester started the match positively with two attempts on goal in the opening minutes but it was their visitors who showed how it was done six minutes into the match with their first attack, as ELLIS McSHARRY rode a challenge to net at the second attempt from 12-yards.
The hosts clipped the top of the bar before visiting ‘keeper Noah Sunter was called into action to save from Finley Bell in a 1v1 situation, whilst the visitors tested the home defence with a number of crosses into and through their box before young ‘keeper Josh Sawyer saved well from a low drive in the final minutes of the half.
After the interval The Centurions pressed and the visitor’s countered but as the game entered the final quarter CALLUM PARSONS collected a cross from the right corner and promptly smashed it into the top left corner and ten minutes later, CALLUM PARSONS converted a Penalty Kick.
On the 90-minutes mark OMAREE COX nipped in to lob the ball over the advancing Sawyer and into the net and as the game was drawing to a close Cirencester were awarded a Penalty Kick that HARLIE PRICE drove into the net for a consolation goal.
