The Centurions early goal sets them up for victory at Glevum Park

Uhlsport Hellenic League

Premier Division

Tuffley Rovers  0 - 2  Cirencester Town

The Centurions were back on the road for their latest Uhlsport Hellenic League – Premier Division fixture as they made the comparatively short trip to face TUFFLEY ROVERS at their Glevum Park home and after scoring a very early goal they were put under pressure by the home side before adding a second to secure the points.

From their kick-off Cirencester launched the ball down the pitch and when it was allowed to bounce by The Rovers defence HARLIE PRICE nipped in to head it over a stranded ‘home keeper to open the scoring in the first minute.

Following the early setback the hosts searched for a way back into the game as they mounted counter attacks but the Cirencester defence stood firm and play became scrappy as both sides struggled to retain the ball for long.

The home side had a good chance to level when three players failed to make contact with a low cross through the Cirencester box but despite this they continued to press up to the interval.

Cirencester opened positively after the break, playing into the wind, although the home side struck a post as they made a concerted effort up to the hour-mark.

Leading up to the mid-point of the half Cirencester regained the initiative with several efforts at the target and shortly afterwards they doubled their lead when a cross from the right reached ALFONSO DIAS who headed inside the right post.

The Centurions remained in control until the final whistle.
