Early goal sets Cirencester on the right track

Cirencester Town 3 - 0 Thornbury Town
The Centurions returned to Uhlsport Hellenic League – Premier Division action for their latest fixture at The Talent Hire Stadium with a match against THORNBURY TOWN and after scoring an early goal went on to secure a solid victory.
The visitors kicked-off and almost immediately lost possession for returning Centurion Joe Turley to deliver an astute pass behind their defence as HARLIE PRICE darted forward to collect and finish into the bottom right corner.
The game became more competitive following the breakthrough and as Cirencester pressed the visitors mounted occasional counter attacks but rarely threatened the home goal due to the solid defence.
Ten minutes into the second quarter Jonty Welch sent the ball down the right channel for HARLIE PRICE to collect, shimmy and tuck inside the left post.
Shortly before the interval a firm header from Price was parried by the visiting ‘keeper for FRASER BELL to collect, cut back and finish from close range.
A few minutes after the re-start the visitors mounted some pressure on the home defence and following a corner kick ‘keeper Ronnie Newbery pulled off a couple of close range saves to deny them.
Whilst Cirencester were dominating possession and pressing forward - with Welch being denied by the ‘keeper’s legs and a Price header crashing against the crossbar - the visitors were still dangerous on the counter to be rewarded with a couple of corner kicks but they couldn’t find a way through the home defence.
