The Centurions tie with The Raiders for the third time

Uhlsport Hellenic League

Premier Division

Worcester Raiders  0 - 0  Cirencester Town

The Centurions travelled to the DOADC Stadium to face WORCESTER RAIDERS for their latest Uhlsport Hellenic League – Premier Division fixture and after a competitive, scrappy, game tied with their opponents for the third time in the last two seasons.

The hosts kicked-off to attack down their left flank but soon lost the ball enabling Cirencester to counter but that also came to an abrupt end.

The visitors pressed for the next ten minutes but could not find a way through the solid home defence and leading up to the mid-point of the half the Raiders used the long throw to threaten their visitors.

Shortly after the Drinks Break both sides threatened – Cirencester following a free kick to the left post which resulted in a series of headers before the ball was cleared, and The Raiders a quick counter attack and low cross past the far-right post without contact from the incoming support.

As the interval loomed Cirencester put the home goal under pressure with Harlie Price nearly converting at the near post.

Cirencester started the second half very positively with a couple of strong runs from Theo Jeremy and a strike from Harlie Price.

A few minutes before the hour-mark home ‘keeper pushed a Jack Horrell strike towards the top right corner around his post and Isaac Cooper fired wide of the target for the hosts.

The visitors continued to press and the game became more physical in the final period with a number of Yellow Cards issued.
