The Cityzens hold The Centurions in The Emirates FA Cup

Emirates FA Cup

Extra Preliminary Round

Cirencester Town  0 - 0  Reading City

Once again, The Centurions entered the Emirates FA Cup at the Extra Preliminary Round stage of the competition with a home tie against READING CITY and despite plenty of goal-mouth action neither side could find a goal so the tie will be decided by a replay on Tuesday evening.

During the opening quarter the main threat from the visitors was long ‘throw-ins’ that reached the home Penalty Area, whilst Cirencester worked the ball down their flanks.

In the early stages of the second quarter Cirencester had a strong shout for a Penalty Kick rejected, and just before the interval a goal-mouth scramble that the visitors survived.

The Centurions continued to press in the second half with crosses from the flanks proving particularly dangerous, and a free kick another goal-mouth scramble, but as the game was drawing to a close home ‘keeper Ronnie Newbery was called into action to deny the visitors a late goal.
