The Centurions unable to break through stubborn 'Plums' defence

Uhlsport Hellenic League
Premier Division
Pershore Town 1 - 0 Cirencester Town
For their third successive Uhlsport Hellenic League – Premier Division fixture of the new season The Centurions were once again on the road – this time travelling to The Recruit 12 Community Stadium to face PERSHORE TOWN – and following a competitive match the home side held out to secure the 3 points.
The game started at a brisk pace with the home side working their flanks to put Cirencester under pressure but 12 minutes into the match the visitors countered to test the home ‘keeper.
After this Cirencester began to push forward more often - leading to free kicks, corner kicks, a goalmouth scramble and Harrison Reeves striking a post.
Whilst Cirencester were increasing the pressure, the home side were mounting quick counter attacks – one of which was headed clear to be returned with a sensational volley from Tyrese Griffin that rebounded off the crossbar to be recycled to strike a post.
Undeterred Cirencester continued to press whilst living dangerously at the back.
The second half was even more eventful as it started with a goal within two minutes when JACK GRIFFITHS-PERRY was quick to tuck-in a rebound.
It continued with a rejected appeal for a Penalty Kick, a deflected shot striking a crossbar, a goal being disallowed, a goalmouth scramble and clearance.
As the game was drawing to a close the tension built and there was still time for Cirencester to clip the top of the bar, survive a goalmouth scramble, and be awarded a Penalty Kick that was saved by Joe Cunneen – much to the relief of the home support.
