The Swans take full advantage of Centurion dismissal

Uhlsport Hellenic League

Premier Division

Slimbridge  3 - 2  Cirencester Town

The Centurions travelled to local rivals SLIMBRIDGE for their first Uhlsport Hellenic League – Premier Division match of the new season and after a very competitive game, including a Centurion dismissal, The Swans recovered from a 2-0 deficit to win with virtually the last kick of the game.

On a wet evening that helped to create a fast-paced, ‘end to end’ encounter The Centurions opened the scoring within 5-minutes of kick-off as a slick move enabled HARLIE PRICE to dart forward to finish from the edge of the 6-yard box for a debut goal.

The rest of the half was competitive with chances at both ends although Cirencester came closer to scoring - with a goal-line clearance and a late effort clipping the base of the right post.

After the interval Slimbridge pressed their visitors and tested ‘Keeper Ronnie Newbery who made a full-length dive to deny them.

Shortly afterwards Cirencester had an effort from Harrison Reeves cleared off the home goal-line and at the mid-point of the half HARLIE PRICE received an intended ’back-pass’, rounded the ‘keeper, and finished into an open goal.

Five minutes later it all changed when Cirencester were reduced to ten men for ‘an off the ball incident’ following a challenge.

It took Slimbridge eight minutes to capitalise with two goals in as many minutes from JACK W. SMITH (a rebound off the right post) and JACK SMITH (from the edge of the 6-yard box).

At the 90-minute mark the home side secured victory when a supporting CASEY COLLINS scrambled the ball over the line from close range.
