The Centurions through to the Floodlit Cup Final after another 7-goal thriller

Wiseman Lighting (UHL) Floodlit Cup

Semi Final

Cirencester Town  4 - 3  Roman Glass St George

The Centurions were involved in another 7-goal thriller with ‘The Romans’ of ROMAN GLASS ST. GEORGE at The Talent Hire Stadium - but this time in the Wiseman Lighting (UHL) Floodlit Cup at the Semi-Final stage of the competition and after an entertaining ‘game of two halves’ as the saying goes the score-line was reversed in favour of The Centurions.

The visitors started the match very strongly as they moved the ball about with confidence as befits their position in the league table and after a couple of early attacks, they opened the scoring after 7 mins when NIEKELL PLUMMER received the ball in space and smashed it into the net.

Despite the early setback Cirencester continued to work the ball down their flanks but suffered another setback when Harrison Reeves had to be substituted due to injury 20-minutes into the match.

Although The Romans were dominating possession the home side were competing and on the stroke of half-time a deep cross from Jack Freeman reached KYLE PITTS just inside the visitor’s box and he calmly tucked it inside the left post to level.

Shortly before the hour mark The Romans regained the lead when JORDAN WILLIAMS fired a thunderbolt into the top right corner from the edge of the home box.

It took 6 minutes for Cirencester to reply as a flowing move resulted in ROSS GABRIEL supplying the finishing touch from close range.

Around the 75-minute mark the home side took the lead when another flowing move and cross from Jordan Morris was headed home at the back post by ROSS GABRIEL and 7 minutes later Cirencester doubled their lead when ROSS GABRIEL completed his hat-trick with a near post finish.

Five minutes into added-time LAURENT DAVIS-WILSON replied following a scramble in the goalmouth but a minute later it was all over and Cirencester were through to the Final.
