Cup match abandoned at the interval due to floodlight failure when Cirencester leading 3-0
Marsh Sports Insurance (UHL) Challenge Cup
Third Round
Highworth Town 0 - 3 Cirencester Town
The Centurions made the short trip to neighbours HIGHWORTH TOWN for this re-arranged Third Round fixture in the Marsh Sports Insurance (UHL) Challenge Cup and at the interval had secured a three-goal lead before the match was abandoned due to a floodlight failure.
As a result of their victory in the Floodlit Cup the Cirencester Town Manager, James Mortimer-Jones, had once again taken the opportunity to involve several players from the U18’s squad.
In a well contested half, FINLEY BELL opened the scoring during the first quarter and by the 30-minute mark AIDAN BENNETT had added a second.
Just before the interval BONSA TESHOME converted a Penalty Kick after he had been brought down in the box to give the visitors a 3-0 lead.
During the break there was a floodlight failure and as it couldn’t be rectified the match was abandoned.
The replay has now been re-scheduled to take place at The Talent Hire Stadium on Monday 3rd February with kick-off at 19.45 hours.
