Two superb second-half strikes from 'The Plums' enough to take the 3-points

Uhlsport Hellenic League

Premier Division

Cirencester Town  0 - 2  Pershore Town

An ‘in-form’ PERSHORE TOWN were the latest visitors to The Talent Hire Stadium for an Uhlsport Hellenic League – Premier Division fixture and after a competitive game they continued their progress with two superb strikes during the second half to leave with the 3-points.

The visitors started quickly to put their hosts on the back-foot but gradually Cirencester worked their way into the game and Aidan Bennett came close to opening the scoring shortly after the mid-point of the first period, whilst ‘The Plums’ had a ‘goal’ disallowed for ’hand-ball’ so it remained all-square at the interval.

Ten minutes into the second half visiting custodian Scott Loader made a good save to deny Bennett and shortly afterwards home ‘keeper Ronnie Newbery saved a close-range header but he couldn’t prevent a firm strike from the edge of the box by STEVE WEBB a few minutes later from finding the bottom corner.

The visitors scored again five minutes from time to seal the game when AIDAN CLARK brought the ball down with good skill before bending one into the top corner from 20-yards.
