The Mangos prove too strong for The Centurions

Uhlsport Hellenic League

Premier Division

Cirencester Town  0 - 3  Mangotsfield United

Former Southern League opponents MANGOTSFIELD UNITED were the latest visitors to The Talent Hire Stadium for an Uhlsport Hellenic League – Premier Division fixture and after a promising first half, despite the Penalty Kick, The Centurions were unable to penetrate the visitors rearguard and conceded two more enabling the visitors to take the points.

The Centurions began the match brightly with some neat football to test their opponents but against the run of play conceded an early Penalty Kick that was smashed into the net by GEORGE NEILL.

At the mid-point of the first half the home side had to replace the experienced Dave Bampton, due to injury, and also had a strong Penalty appeal of their own rejected but despite these setbacks The Centurions continued to battle as their visitors threatened more frequently.

Just before the interval Cirencester suffered another injury setback as the dangerous Luca Robinson also had to depart the arena.

After the break the visitors pressed and were rewarded with an early goal as MIRCEA ILEA headed home following a corner kick.

On the hour Mangotsfield added a third when JOE CATTERMOLE tucked the ball inside the left post following a knock down and whilst Cirencester kept trying, they were unable to seriously threaten their more powerful opponents.
