Bennett brace finally secures first points of the season

Uhlsport Hellenic League

Premier Division

Cirencester Town  2 - 0  Hereford Pegasus

Table-topping HEREFORD PEGASUS visited The Talent Hire Stadium for this Uhlsport Hellenic League – Premier Division fixture and The Centurions rose to the challenge with a superb all-round team performance to secure their first points of the season.

A change in formation brought a change of luck as Cirencester were clearly up for the challenge before them.

The opening exchanges were fairly even with both defences being tested – visiting ‘keeper Jensen Kilroy making several essential saves and Finley Bell coming closest with an attempted ‘chip’ from 35 yards that just cleared the bar – before Cirencester opened their account when AIDAN BENNETT latched onto the loose ball, following a corner kick, to lash it inside the far-right post.

Five minutes later AIDAN BENNETT added a second when he deflected a low corner kick to the near left post through the visitor’s defence.

After the interval The Centurions pressed forward and the visitors countered but neither side could break through their opponents determined defence - although another Bell ‘chip’ from distance and a near post header from Jayden Stratford came close for the home side, whilst Mike Burgess’ glancing header was narrowly wide for the visitors – and as a result no further goals were added enabling Cirencester to secure their first points of the season.
