The Romans too strong for The Centurions

Uhlsport Hellenic League

Premier Division

Roman Glass St George  6 - 1  Cirencester Town

The Centurions made the comparatively short journey to Bristol to face ROMAN GLASS ST. GEORGE in their first Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Divison match of the new season and came up against a very experienced side and whilst both sides scored in the opening five minutes the hosts added five more to run out convincing winners against their game opponents.

Following their voluntary relegation from the Southern League - that resulted in many of their more experienced players leaving the Club - Cirencester took a much-changed, young squad to Oaklands Park.

The home side opened the scoring within four minutes of kick off when CHRIS LINES drove a free kick into the top right corner but their young visitors responded immediately as the ball was worked down their left flank and fed to the front edge of the home 6-yard box where KYLE CHESTER managed to force it into the net.

It looked like spectators were in for a competitive match but the home side, with all their experience, turned on the power to dominate the rest of the game with two further goals before the interval from NIEKELL PLUMMER and JENNISON WILLIAMS.

Whilst The Centurions showed glimpses of their potential the home side were too strong on the day and added another three goals in the second half through LEWIS GILCHRIST and LAURENT WILSON (2).
