The Centurions unable to recover after conceding two early goals

Uhlsport Hellenic League

Premier Division

Brimscombe & Thrupp  3 - 1  Cirencester Town

The Centurions made the short journey to Stroud for their latest Uhlsport Hellenic League – Premier Division fixture to take on BRIMSCOMBE & THRUPP, who have also had a difficult start to the season, and it was the hosts that took the initiative as they opened the scoring within a minute of kick-off before going on to secure victory in this ‘bottom-of-the-table’ clash.

The home side made the perfect start as they scored two goals within the opening six-minutes when an alert LEROY ODIERO headed home from close range, and DAN MARTIN forced the ball into the net, following a corner kick and cross from their right flank respectively.

It had been a torrid start for the visitors and their hosts continued to press with forceful play preventing Cirencester from retaining possession for long and at the half-hour mark DAN MARTIN converted another Paul Fahy cross from the right flank.

Despite this further setback Cirencester were beginning to mount attacks of their own but it was proving difficult to break through a solid home defence.

Cirencester made a couple of changes during the interval and this, coupled with a change in their application, yielded a couple of early chances before OLLIE REJEK replied with a superb strike into the top left corner.

A few minutes later Cirencester were awarded a Penalty Kick but failed to convert it and despite plenty of possession and effort they were unable to break through enabling the home side to secure their first points of the season.
