The Centurions unable to contain The Tigers

Pre-Season Friendly

Cirencester Town  0 - 5  Gloucester City

The final Pre-season Friendly match for The Centurions brought GLOUCESTER CITY to The Talent Hire Stadium and following their relegation from the National League - North Division at the end of last season they brought a strong squad, including several trialists, to check on their preparations for the Southern League – Premier Division South.

The visitors made an incredible start to the match as they scored within the first minute, added a second two minutes later and a third after ten minutes.

Despite the shock of the two early goals Cirencester struck a post before City scored their third and it looked like it was going to be an interesting contest but the power of the City squad enabled them to dominate large periods of play.

The young Cirencester squad stuck to their task and mounted several counter attacks and a superb passage of play as they worked the ball out of defence and across to the right corner.

Within four minutes of the re-start City struck the top right corner of the Cirencester goal-frame and added a fourth goal at the hour mark - following a corner kick and powerful header.

Five minutes later a fierce strike from the edge of the Cirencester box nestled inside the right post as Cirencester were put under intense pressure but they showed character to mount a couple of attacks of their own as the half developed.

A dominant performance from City and a determined performance from The Centurions.
