The Centurions defeat 'The Citizens' to finish 6th in the table

Pitching In Southern League
Division 1 Central
Cirencester Town 3 - 0 Welwyn Garden City
The final league match of the season brought Welwyn Garden City to The Talent Hire Stadium and victory for either side would secure a 6th place finish in the table.
The visitors kicked off and following their initial attack Cirencester began to take control as they mounted a number of attacks before FELIX MILES converted a cross-field pass after 15 minutes to open the scoring.
In response The Citizens tried to use their flanks but Cirencester were in determined mood and stifled any threat and as a result the game became quite scrappy before NICK PEARE added a second five minutes from the scheduled interval as he headed home from close range.
After the break the visitors looked more dangerous, with Henry Jones often involved, but Cirencester were also threatening as they countered quickly and once again it became scrappy as both sides fought for the upper hand.
On the stroke of full time Ben Whitehead broke free and fired a fierce cross-shot towards the far-right post for LUCA ROBINSON to dart forward to finish from a couple of yards.
A couple of minutes later Whitehead left the pitch on a stretcher as he was injured whilst shooting at The Citizens goal – everyone at the Club wishes him a full and speedy recovery.
