Cirencester secure victory against 'The Rovers'

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Cirencester Town  3 - 0  Barton Rovers

The Centurions returned to The Talent Hire Stadium after three successive trips to Bedfordshire and secured victory against a much-changed Barton Rovers side.

The visitors started positively and it took a little while for Cirencester to threaten their opponent’s goal but as the interval approached The Centurions made the breakthrough when JAKE LEE latched onto a stooping header from Ben Whitehead to nod it inside the right post.

Six minutes into the second half the home side added another when REEGAN MESSENGER placed a firm header inside the left post following a cross from Felix Miles.

Despite a spirited response from their visitors Cirencester sealed the game when a Harry Burns header was volleyed into the net from close range by NICK PEARE - who moments later produced the highlight of the match when he charged forward from half-way to the by-line before striking the side-netting.
