The home of football, corporate events, courses and celebrations

For the second time in five days The Centurions made the long trek across the country – this time to take on Kempston Rovers – and came away with a victory that keeps their slim hopes of a play-off place alive.
In terms of league positions and current form prior to the match – Kempston Rovers sat in 17th place in the league table with 29 points from 30 games played whilst Cirencester were in 6th place with 44 points from 31 games played.
Examination of the ‘6-Match Form Guide’ table reveals that ‘The Walnut Boys’ have secured 10 points from their last 6 games whilst ‘The Centurions’ have obtained 5 points to sit in 9th and 16th places respectively in the relevant table.
In the reverse fixture in September ‘The Centurions’ secured a 4-0 victory at The Talent Hire Stadium but in their last eight games Kempston have defeated Bedford Town (twice), Biggleswade Town and Leighton Town and therefore should not be under-estimated due to their current lowly position in the league table.
Starting Eleven – Cirencester made two changes from the mid-week starting eleven against Biggleswade Town as Cameron Walters returned in place of Aidan Bennett and Willem Pooley replaced Felix Miles enabling a 3-5-2 formation to start the game.
The bench consisted of Aidan Bennett, Felix Miles, Josh Keyes and James Mortimer-Jones.
The game started at a high tempo with neither side able to produce an end product but as the interval approached Cirencester reverted to a 4-4-2 formation and almost immediately opened their account when Nick Peare launched the ball across the pitch to Harry Burns and he crossed it into the box where REEGAN MESSENGER blocked an attempted clearance for the ball to rebound into the net from close range. 0-1.
Cirencester increased their lead in ‘added-time’ when NICK PEARE headed home at the second attempt from a Joe Turley corner kick. 0-2.
Half Time: 0-2
A few minutes into the second half Burns struck a post with a curling effort from 20 yards and the home side responded as they pressed Cirencester and around the hour mark the visitors had to ‘dig-in’ to survive with Erin Amu having his shot blocked following a well-worked move.
As the game was drawing to a close a defensive ‘mix-up’ resulted in AIDAN BENNETT being provided with the chance to finish into an empty net and he took it. 0-3.
In ‘added-time’ MALACHI SOILE scored a consolation goal for the home side with a bullet header from a corner kick.
Full Time: 1-3
A hard-working victory for The Centurions built on a solid defensive performance.
