Debut : Oxford City (H) - 28/08/08

Jack is a young left sided player signed from Bristol side Hallen FC in the summer of 2008 after glowing references from former City goalkeeper Dave Mogg.

Following an injury in pre-season he had to wait until the fourth game of the season to make his full debut against Oxford City and scored the opening goal. He became a regular fixture in the side and went on to compete in 47 games with further goals against East Thurrock, Abingdon United and Yate Town before scoring the opener in the play off semi-final at home to Cambridge City.

His fearless approach often led to him needing treat, a fact that wasn't lost on physio Ade Tandy who claimed that he'd been brought to the club to keep him fit!

He made the step up to the Blue Square North with aplomb and even scored in the opening day 2-3 defeat at Southport. Again the season saw him net five goals including the winner at Telford and late equalisers at Droylsden and Harrogate Town.

To complete a great season for him he was named joint Player of the season along with goalkeeper Mike Green and Lee Smith.

Jack, known as Vern owing to him looking like TV Presenter Vernon Kaye started off the 2010/11 campaign in the worst possible fashion when he went in for a challenge with Corby's Andy Hall and came out with his leg broken in two places.
