Rhys is a former Welsh Schoolboy International and member of the Wales Under 21 squad who joined the club from Merthyr Tydfil in October 2007.
Earlier in his career, Rhys played for Burnley Youth before going on to play for Bristol Rovers and Tredegar Town.
Rhys only made a handful of appearances for the club before work commitments forced him to leave in December 2007.
