WELCOME TO THE UNDER 9SCirencester Town U9's have two teams that play in The North Wilts (North Division) League and The Cotswold League and our sponsor is J & S Associates based in Hampen near Winchcombe. J & S owner John Simpson came to our rescue to provide a full set of playing kit and rain jackets prior to the start of last season. Towards the end of last season we were also fortunate to receive funding from the Cirencester Round Table.
The squad is currently made up of 33 players and is coached by Neil Brown (currently working towards Level 2 coaching qualification) and Kevin Snowball (Level 1 qualified). The 33 players are generally registered at the start of the season but taster days are often offered for prospective members during the season. Training sessions for this season are Friday evenings at 5-30 and last for an hour and a half when daylight allows and an hour when training is in the Cirencester Arena.
For matches the squad selected for the North Wilts League is very much based on ability with the Cotswold League team consisting of a spine of regulars complimented with the rest of the squad to ensure that all players in the squad obtain an acceptable degree of match time during the season. Commitment and attendance at training is also a prerequisite for selection for matches. Matches are generally played on Sunday mornings.
Some of the squad has now been training with us since under 5 level but most have been with us for at least 3 seasons. We have a great team spirit and a great bunch of families who not only support their boys at matches but also help with the weekly matches in erecting goals, refereeing and fund raising as well as helping at the coaching sessions.
We believe in providing an enjoyable experience for all the lads involved as well as providing them valuable coaching to help in their sporting development.
