PLAYER PROFILE - Russell Courtney

Central Defender

D.O.B: 11th October 1988  

Russ is from Stockport and was with Crewe Alexandra as a youngster. He chose to go to Hartpury College in 2007 and was a key member of their British Universities Championship side that beat Team Bath in the Final in May 2008.

At the same time as playing for Hartpury, he also played for Shortwood United in the Hellenic League Premier Division. He made a name for himself in some outstanding performances in their FA Cup run this season which included a 3-2 home win against Didcot Town, and a narrow 1-0 Second Qualifying Round  replay defeat at home to  Conference Club, Havant & Waterlooville after drawing 2-2 against them in the original away tie. 

Russ signed for us from Shortwood in October 2008, and is a big, fast, and competitive central defender who was a real asset to our squad.

After finishing at Hartpury College in the summer of 2009, Russ moved back North.
