CIRENCESTER TOWN V SWINDON SPITFIRES LADIES

Having beaten the Spitfires twice already this season, Ciren went into the Bristol Soccerworld cup tie with confidence. However, Swindon had some new additions to their squad strengthening it somewhat.

This was not helped when the Ladies remained in first gear during the first period which produced a sloppy opening allowing Swindon the initiative scoring through poor play. Nonetheless Ciren pulled one back from Wadd’s head for the third consecutive week.

However, the Centurions slipped back into complacency and offered Spitfires the upper hand with a lack of communication leading to a careless goal. Again Ciren pulled one back through Annie-Five who confounded the keeper with a long range effort.

A firm half time team talk saw a Ciren in the second half with a renewed attitude.

The refreshing spirit saw a number of corners produced where Senior converted due to both quick thinking and reactions.

The Centurions natural passing game reappeared also with Annie-Five following up well to pass the ball into the back of the net after some good inter-linking passing.

The fifth and final goal was created by great energy from Vickers sprinting the left wing to pieces, crossing a low ball into the box where a Swindon defender turned it back into her own net.

The Spits stole a consolation goal in the dying stages of the match due to torrential weather more than anything else.
