CIRENCESTER TOWN V CHIPPENHAM TOWN LADIES

COMMANDING PERFORMANCE, COMMANDING SCORE.

Cirencester Town Ladies 2 Chippenham Town Ladies 0

The match commenced with Cirencester demonstrating their full potential with great dominance and control, commanding the game all over the park. There were displays of great possession work from defence, to midfield, to forwards.

Some good link up play from the left wing allowed Chaos and Vickers to create a number of openings. The midfield partnership of Spike and Messenger stabilised the team keeping the shape, and Senior was often finding excellent space on the right wing. The defence, when called upon, maintained their concentration and performed the desired effect admirably with Geoff and Wadd leading with authority.

However, the objective of football is to score goals which with the half time score of 0-0 left us with work to do. Nonetheless, our strike force came up with the goods with a well deserved goal to Bennett who netted with a stunning volley of supremacy. Chippenham having reshuffled the team at the interval provided more threat in the second half. However this came to no resolve with calm defensive work. L.Wadd doubled the Ladies score with a ‘was it a cross or a shot?’ where the bounce deluded the Chip keeper.

The Centurions had a final opportunity to further the goal tally through a penalty. Chaos stepped up admirably but failed to do justice to the match’s performance prompting Five’s “So talk us through that pass back” quote!

Bennett won Player of the Match with a great work-rate upfront.

A good performance by all.
