CIRENCESTER TOWN V CHELTENHAM TOWN LADIES UNDER 16

Cirencester remain joint top with Bristols St Nicholas after a comfortable but not convincing win against a battling Cheltenham side.


Ciren got off to a flyer when a fantastic multipassing move, which started with the keeper, found Katie Kingshott who blasted the ball under the diving keeper to make it 1-0. Ciren were dominant and the next chance fell to Chyna Collings who shot from 25yds, but her drive was palmed away by the Robins ‘keeper.


After 14 minutes it was 2-0 when Aimee Thomson volleyed home a Katie
Kingshott corner from close range. The rest of the half became a scrappy
affair with both sides making numerous mistakes on a greasy surface. Frances
Wilson had a fierce drive palmed away after 31 minutes but Ciren were
struggling to show their normal dominance.

Cheltenham had the last chance of the half but the strikers weak shot was hit straight at Rebekah Nash in the Centurions goal.

HT 2 - 0


The second half continued in the same vein but Ciren were creating more chances as Cheltenham tired. After 6 minutes a Sammie Smith cross clipped the far post
but was cleared. Tthen Ciren wrapped up the game with two corners in five minutes as both times the Katie Kingshott delivery found firstly Chyna Collings and
then Sammie Smith to make the game safe.


Cheltenham were a beaten team and to make there plight worse Aimee Thomson made it five after a fumble by the Cheltenham keeper.


The game lost its way as both teams struggled to do anything with the ball then
Cheltenham almost scored after a defensive mix up but the first time shot
hit the bottom of the post. The Cheltenham keepers bad run of luck
continued when a 25 yd strike from Elle Maynard somehow went through her
body and into the net to make it 6-0.

Katie Kingshott made it seven when she calmly slotted home after the Robins defence had stopped to look for an offside.


Cheltenham scored a deserved consolation goal with a delicate chip to make it 7-1. The final chance feel to Frances Wilson in the final minute when it looked like she was going to continue her ”goal a game” record but her hurried shot was collected by the Robins ‘keeper.
