CIRENCESTER TOWN GIRLS U16 V'S YATE TOWN 30.9.07

Cirencester Town 8 - 1 Yate Town

Cirencester kept up there 100% winning start to the season with a much improved performance against Yate Town.

Although missing 2 regulars, including top goal scorer Emily Allen, they started strongly with Ellie Maynard causing Yate problems down the right with several crosses and corners from which Jemma Brittan almost converted early on.
The pressure was building and Yate survived another scare when Ellie Maynard hit the bar with a rocket from 20yds out.

Cirencester finally found a way through when Frances Wilson converted after a neat build up and a precision ball from Katie Kingshott left her one on one with the ‘keeper and she made no mistake.

Cirencester began to control the game and were unlucky not to add to the total when Frances Wilson fired just wide and Katies Kingshott`s cross shot clipped the top of the bar from wide on the right. Another quality cross created Cirencester’s second goal when Frances Wilson bravely stooped low to challenge the keeper and a Yate defender and squeezed her header inside the near post.

Yate began to create for themselves but found the Cirencester full backs, Hayley Desborough and Keelie Russell solid and uncompromising in their tackling and with Kallie Roberts and Nelly Forbes controlling the centre of the defence in their usual dominant way it was going to need something special to unlock the Centurions defence.

Cirencester made it 3 just before half time when Chyna Collings met another Ellie Maynard cross, with her header from a crowd of Cirencester players taking the ‘keeper by surprise.

HALF TIME
3-0

Yate were given a life line at the start of the second half when a through ball was touched back to Rebekah Nash, the Cirencester ‘keeper, by Nelly Forbes but the resulting clearance hit the Yate centre forward on the back of the head and rebounded into the empty net.

The goal inspired Cirencester to some of their best football of the season and they put the game beyond any doubt with fourteen minutes of top quality football in which they netted five times.

The first was a calm finish from the midfield dynamo Katie Kingshott, who had been tormenting the Yate defence all game, after being put through down the right flank. Minutes later Frances Wilson completed her hat trick after another great cross caused confusion in the Yate penalty area.

Frances added her fourth and Cirencester’s fifth when the stand in striker raced onto a poor goal kick and tucked the ball into the far corner past the advancing ‘keeper.

Katie Kingshott then stole the show with two quality solo goals to wrap up the game. The strikes were almost identical as the attacking midfielder twice seamed to beat the whole of the Yate defence before calmly side footing the ball into the corner of the net, no more than she deserved after her superb contribution to the game.

Cirencester continued to attack the Yate goal but failed to add to there total with the Yate ‘keeper pulling off 2 or 3 fine saves towards the end of the game.
Cirencesters best late chance fell to Chyna Collings who was unlucky when her lob just trickled wide of the goal and then in the dying seconds Jemma Brittain somehow managed to completely miss the ball from 2 yards out with the goal at her mercy.

The win and much improved performance, sets them up nicely for next weeks home game with Gloucester City and the following week with top of the table St. Nicholas
