CIRENCESTER TOWN LADIES FOOTBALL

2007-08 End of Season Awards

At our End of Season Party and Presentation evening the Ladies Team Manager, Helen Lewis, confirmed that the Ladies Team's season was one of two halves. Before Christmas they had done particularly well and they were in third place in the league having won six out of their first nine games.

However in the second half of the season, the loss of several key players due to work commitments meant that they didn't do quite as well and they slid down the league table to finish in seventh position.

Helen also confirmed that Paul Brown has agreed to become the Ladies Team Manager for the next three seasons, and the Ladies look forward to building on what has been achieved this season.

Helen than presented the following awards:

Most Improved Player:

Ruth Senior

 Players' Player:

Philippa Dunn

 Manager's Player:

Caroline (Cas) Dowdeswell

Unfortunately Cas was away on holiday and could not attend the Presentation Evening, so Karen Messenger picked up the award on her behalf.

Karen and Kerry Bennett then presented Helen with a bunch of flowers in recognition of the hard work she had put in during the season.

2007-08 Season

The Ladies team, currently running as a co-operative while they find somebody willing to spend the time and effort to be their manager, play in the South West Women's League Division 1, North

They got there by winning promotion from the Glos Womens League 2 seasons ago and last year settled in well in what is a more competitive standard of womens football.

Helen Lewis, a qualified coach, sorts out the training routines.

The team play their home games at The Corinium on Sunday afternoon, kick -off 2.30 pm. But, when it gets a bit darker, they kick off at 2pm

Training is Thursday evenings at The Corinium, 6 for 6.30.

The Ladies play for fun but take the bits and bobs needed to make a team work very seriously. Lucie Vickers, on the right here, has the job of website co-ordination.

And Philippa Dunn, here on the left, does the reports and link work with the media.

Ask any member of the squad, and they will tell you that playing football is the best way to get yourself fit and healthy.

And the guaranteed way to stay toned, fit and healthy!

It is also worth pointing out that, as true amateurs, the Ladies also party hard. The social side of their game is sometimes something to behold.

If anybody over age 16 who wants a game is interested, just contact the club and somebody will get back to you. At least you'll know what you are in for!
