Match Report by Dave Pyzer

For their second pre-season friendly match in preparation for the 2018-19 campaign Cirencester hosted a Swindon Town squad comprising of First Team, U23’s and trialists – providing a first viewing of the squad Phil Brown is assembling for the many ‘Robins’ supporters who attended.

Cirencester made one change from the eleven that started the previous match at Longlevens as Jack Horrell replaced the absent Jack Freeman.

Despite plenty of possession it took the ‘new look’ Swindon Town 35 minutes to open the scoring with a well worked goal created by one of their trialists, as he pulled the ball back from the by-line, and scored by another, SHAMIR MULLINGS with a composed finish inside the right post. 0-1.

A couple of minutes before the interval another trialist, MAXWELL OLDHAM, latched onto a long ball over the top of the Cirencester back line to score from the right channel of the home penalty area.  0-2.

Half Time:  0-2

During the interval Swindon made 9 changes bringing on some of their young players and more trialists whilst Cirencester made changes as the half progressed.

Six minutes into the half Swindon’s James Dunne made a driving run down the right channel, riding tackles and drawing defenders towards him before he slipped the ball left to an unmarked KESHI ANDERSON who tucked it inside the left post.  0-3.

Swindon moved the ball quicker in the second half and took advantage of a tiring Cirencester to create a number of openings but often delayed their final pass enabling Cirencester to get a foot in.

With 3 minutes remaining Henry Spalding collected the ball on the left flank and played an early pass behind the Swindon backline for AIDAN BENNETT to collect, advance down the right channel and place a controlled finish inside the left post.  1-3.

Full Time:   1-3
