Pre-Season Friendly

Longlevens 1 - 3 Cirencester Town

First Team Manager Brian Hughes selected a strong squad for this annual away friendly at Longlevens, who play in the Gloucestershire County League and are managed by our very own James French who is our Cirencester Arena Manager.

Longlevens included a former Centurion, Mark Pritchard, at centre back, and fully played their part in an entertaining match.

The first half was fairly even with both teams having a couple of chances without converting any of them.

HT Score: 0 - 0

At the start of the second half, Nathan Hawkins replaced Chris Thompson at centre back and on 57 minutes, Scott Griffin and Aiden Bennett came on for Sean Bailey and Richard Mansell.

On 61 minutes, goalkeeper Lee Clatworthy, who had a very steady game, played a long ball over the Longlevens defence for Scott Griffin to run onto and slot past the keeper.

Five minutes later, through a good move down the left, Longlevens equalised when Scott Hayward fired home a low cross, with Lee Clatworthy getting a hand to the shot and came close to  to saving it.

Cirencester then restored their lead in the 74th minute when a long range shot from James Mortimer-Jones was well saved only for the rebound to fall to Matt Sysum who calmly followed up to score.

A minute later, Oliie Pitt came on for Sam Packer before in the 77 minute, after good passing between Scott Griffin and Jamie Reid, Griffin put in a low cross for Sam Collier to net the final goal of the game.

FT Score 1 - 3

This was another good display by Ciren in what has been an excellent pre-season to date and Longlevens' manager, James French, will also have been pleased with his own side's performance in a match which was keenly contested but also played in the right spirit.
