Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division

Cirencester Town 0 - 3 Arlesey Town

Following on from a great result at high flying Chippenham, Cirencester were hosts at the Corinium Stadium to Arlesey Town only two places above Ciren in the division so a win with three valuable points to bag looked very much on the cards.

Arlesey got off to a frantic start and after 3 minutes got their 1st corner which was headed out for a Ciren goal kick, 4 minutes later a bullet shot from Cole bought out a great save from Hedges the Ciren keeper.

After 15 minutes Ciren broke through for their 1st attack of the match with Else firing wide.

Hedges came to the rescue on three more occasions within the following 25 minutes, he was certainly being kept busy by a very industrious Arlesey team. With the opposition piling on the pressure, the inevitable happened, a free kick from 35 yards was floated into the box and was met with a headed goal by Brown.

The second half started in the same vein as the first with Arlesey dominating play and 5 minutes later a deflected shot from the Arlesey number 10, Jordan Patrick, found the back of the Cirencester net.

Cirencester made a substitution bringing on Bevan for Davies after 52 minutes. In the 67th minute from a corner Arlesey scored a third goal  with a well taken header from Chris Dillon.

In a last attempt to make an impact on the score line, Ciren bought on Bennett and Dunton for Mortimer-Jones and Dunn but Arlesey had no intention of releasing the grip they had on the game, and remained firm to the final whistle.

This was a game that Cirencester supporters were saying is our last chance, we need the win, and we blew it. Apart from Hedges this was a lack lustre Cirencester performance.

Brian Hughes now has the unenviable task of picking the team up for the remaining games of the season as well as planning for the future.
