Cirencester tie with 'top-of-the-table' Bedford Town

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Cirencester Town  1 - 1  Bedford Town

Another engaging match at The Talent Hire Stadium, between two sides in the top five of the Division, with ‘end-to-end’ football, played with conviction and pace, goalmouth incidents, near-misses and a Penalty Kick.

The visitors head the table for good reason and certainly tested the home side but The Centurion defence refused to be breached in the first half whilst creating several clear chances that were not converted and as a result it was goal-less at the interval.

The second period began at the same frantic pace and shortly before the hour The Eagles opened the scoring when LEON LOBJOIT converted from the Penalty Spot after he had been tripped.

Undeterred the home side continued to press forward - Ben Whitehead struck the bar six minutes later and several shots were blocked on the edge of the visitor’s box before they finally levelled as LUCA ROBINSON cut in from the left flank to drive the ball into the net.

At the 90-minute mark Cirencester had the chance to take the three points but fired over the bar and the points were shared.
