The Centurions second loss at The Corinium Stadium

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Cirencester Town  1 - 2  Biggleswade FC

The Centurions returned to The Corinium Stadium, following four successive away matches, and after taking an early lead the scores were level at the interval but mid-way into the second half they conceded another to lose their second home match of the season to visitors BIGGLESWADE FC.

Cirencester dominated possession during the first quarter whilst their visitors soaked up the pressure and relied on the occasional counter attack.

The home side opened the scoring 13-minutes into the contest when the ball was worked to WILL CHRISTOPHER who struck a fierce, swerving shot from 25 yards into the top right corner.

Shortly after the mid-point of the half Biggleswade created a period of pressure and despite ‘keeper Stuart Nelson making several blocks he couldn’t keep GEORGE WHEELER-BAILEY’s effort out of his net - even though he got a hand to it.

In the opening minute of the second half Nick Peare struck the left post with a shot on the turn but the game became more balanced with chances at both ends.

Shortly before the mid-point of the half Cirencester were reduced to ten men and three minutes later GEORGE WHEELER-BAILEY burst into the home box and managed to prod the ball over the line.

Cirencester responded as Felix Miles struck the woodwork and George Peare had an effort pushed round the post whilst there was also action at the other end as the visitors struck a post.
