The Centurions defeat high-flying North Leigh

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Cirencester Town  3 - 0  North Leigh

The Centurions returned to The Talent Hire Stadium for their final league match of 2023 and inflicted a 3-0 defeat on their high-flying visitors, North Leigh.

Cirencester started positively - as they pressed their opponents and limited the time and space for North Leigh to mount any meaningful threat on the home goal - and after 10 minutes they opened their account when GEORGE PEARE was released to drive a firm shot into the net from inside the Penalty Area.

Shortly before the half-hour Cirencester were awarded a free kick, some 30 yards from goal, as they stretched their visitor’s and FELIX MILES stepped forward to place his very accurate kick into the top right corner of the goal.

After the interval the visitors took the initiative as Cirencester allowed them a little more space to fire a couple of efforts wide of the target and just after the hour George Gilmore struck the woodwork following a corner kick but gradually Cirencester began to press again for NICK PEARE to sweep the ball home from the edge of the 6-yard box.
