Battling Centurions suffer defeat after being reduced to ten-men

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Waltham Abbey  1 - 0  Cirencester Town

For the second successive week The Centurions made another long journey across the country and after suffering an early dismissal they were defeated by a 65th minute goal - despite a spirited late rally.

The match started at a brisk pace with both sides working the ball down their flanks but it all changed when a Centurion was shown a straight Red Card as his attempt to regain control of the ball resulted in contact with his opponent.

With the extra man advantage the home side then went on to dominate possession but found it difficult to break through the resolute Centurion defence until a cross from the right evaded the defence for SAM SHABAN to head inside the left post from the edge of the 6-yard box.

Despite this setback The Centurions mounted a spirited fight-back to press their hosts in the final minutes but were unable to break through and returned home empty handed.
