Wasteful Cirencester finally secure the 3 points

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Cirencester Town  2 - 1  Aylesbury United

In a re-arranged League fixture Cirencester hosted AYLESBURY UNITED and despite dominating possession for much of the first half it was goal-less at the interval, but shortly after the hour they opened their account and added a second in ‘added-time’ with the visitors scoring a consolation goal in the final minute.

In a dominant first period Cirencester faced a massed defence and despite peppering the visitors Penalty Area with dangerous crosses and having several near-misses (including one that rebounded across the goal-mouth from the bottom of the right post) plus a late threat from the visitors it remained goal-less at the interval.

The early part of the second period continued in similar fashion but when Cirencester opened their account shortly after the hour through a HARRY BURNS header the visitors responded with counter attacks and threatened the home goal a couple of times.

As the game was drawing to a close AIDAN BENNETT added a second and it looked as the result was confirmed but a goal for HAYDEN BEADLE in the final minute caused some concern until the whistle was blown.
