Clinical Cirencester take the 3 points

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Cirencester Town  4 - 0  Kempston Rovers

Despite Cirencester pressing their opponents for much of the first half it was goal-less at the interval but the change of ends brought about a change in fortunes for The Centurions as they scored four without reply to take the 3-points.

The game started positively for the home side as Luca Robinson fired wide in the opening minute and Reegan Messenger’s downward header was cleared from near the goal-line a few minutes later.

Cirencester continued to press and the visitors counter attacked but neither side was able to make the breakthrough and it remained goal-less at the interval.

Kempston should have opened the scoring from the re-start as Samuel Ezenwaka fired over and they were made to pay for the miss as LUCA ROBINSON smashed the ball into the net a couple of minutes later.

Shortly before the mid-point of the half Cirencester added a second when a fierce Charlie Johnson strike rebounded of the crossbar and Messenger’s volley was deflected over the Kempston ‘keeper for an OWN GOAL.

The third goal came nine minutes later as CHARLIE McCRAE managed to poke a low cross from Dan Grieve inside the right post from close range.

The final goal of the game was one of simplicity and speed as Robinson charged to the by-line before pulling the ball back for DAN GRIEVE to instantly drive it into the net.
