Cirencester return from The Citizens with a point

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

Welwyn Garden City  1 - 1  Cirencester Town

Cirencester made the long trip across the country to face Welwyn Garden City in a league fixture that had been brought forward from December and after a fragmented game the points were shared.

The visitors kicked off and took the game to their hosts and missed a Penalty Kick after 19 minutes but a few minutes later, following a consultation with his Assistant, The Centurions were awarded a goal when a downward header from CHARLIE McCRAE was adjudged to have crossed the line despite the valiant attempt of ‘keeper Donnabhan Green to keep it out.

Welwyn equalised 11 minutes after the interval when BRADLEY WADKINS latched onto a clearance and drove it into the top right corner.

Six minutes later the hosts were reduced to ten men when a last-ditch tackle was penalised but despite this setback Welwyn battled hard with Green making a number of fine saves to deny Cirencester in the closing stages.
