Will Christopher rocket not enough to secure a point for The Centurions

Pitching In Southern League

Division 1 Central

North Leigh  2 - 1  Cirencester Town

The Centurions travelled to NORTH LEIGH for this Bank Holiday league fixture with a threadbare squad and produced a battling performance but lost by the odd goal in three.

Cirencester attacked from the off with Harry Burns firing over the bar and Nick Peare forcing a diving save from custodian James Foster in the opening minutes.

The game was littered with free kicks as it was being played very competitively at a fast pace and it took a brave effort in the 27th minute from LANCE WILLIAMS to break the deadlock as he dived forward to get his head on the ball as a defender was about to clear.

Cirencester responded to the setback and 12 minutes later after a period of pressure WILL CHRISTOPHER latched onto a loose ball and smashed it into the top corner from 30 yards.

After the interval Cirencester pressed forward and their hosts countered quickly with LYNTON GOSS collecting a long ball down their right channel before entering into the Cirencester box and driving it home in the 81st minute.

Despite plenty of effort the visitors were unable to break through a stubborn home rearguard and they came away without the point their commitment deserved.
