The Centurions knocked out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle

The Emirates FA Cup

Preliminary Round

Flackwell Heath  2 - 0  Cirencester Town

The Centurions entered The Emirates FA Cup at the Preliminary Round stage with a visit to FLACKWELL HEATH - who currently play their football in The Combined Counties - Premier Division North – and were knocked out of the competition at the first hurdle as they struggled to deal with the pitch and their opponents.

The first half saw the sides cancel one another out with neither side able to retain possession for long and whilst both sides reached their opponents Penalty Area there were few clear chances created but the best fell to Flackwell Heath as Kieran Jordan had his effort cleared from the Cirencester goal-line by Josh Nelmes.

Shortly before the hour mark Flackwell Heath opened their account when MATTHEW AYRES managed to toe poke the ball inside the left post from just inside the Cirencester box during a scramble for possession.

Cirencester were reduced to ten men in the 70th minute when a straight Red Card was issued following a clumsy, late challenge on a team-mate prompted a push on the culprit.

Despite the setback Cirencester still provided a threat but in the 84th minute The Heathens secured the tie with a well-placed strike from JETHRO ODUMOSU that entered the net inside the far-right post.
