The Centurions victorious in Severn Sport Shield Final

Severn Sport Shield

Final

Cirencester Town  3 – 0  Bishops Cleeve

In a change to the original schedule The Corinium Stadium was the venue for the Final of the Severn Sport Shield and following an entertaining match played in difficult weather conditions it was the home side that secured the trophy.

Cirencester started positively as they pressed their visitors and opened the scoring after 10 minutes when AIDAN BENNETT headed a cross inside the right post.

At the mid-point of the half AIDAN BENNETT added a second as he arrived at the right post to tuck a low cross home following some intricate play on the left touchline.

Bishops Cleeve responded as they worked the ball forward with some neat passing but the Cirencester defence stood firm.

Both sides made substitutions during the interval and with eight players each to take part during the half it inevitably became a little disjointed.

At the mid-point of the half Cirencester added another goal as LUCA ROBINSON darted forward to convert from close range after Charlie McCrea had skilfully created the room for a low cross.

During the final minutes of the game Cleeve had a couple of pots at goal blocked to deny them a consolation.
