Match abandoned after 75 minutes
Pre-Season Friendly
Cirencester Town 3 – 1 Sholing FC
The final ‘home’ Pre-Season Friendly match brought Sholing FC to The Corinium Stadium and after a competitive opening half the match was abandoned in the 75th minute when it became too competitive and a scuffle developed.
During the opening ten minutes play was ‘end-to-end’ but shortly afterwards Cirencester opened the scoring when DAN GRIEVE headed home at the near post.
Cirencester added a second seven minutes later as LUCA ROBINSON burst forward to score from inside the Sholing box.
Early in the second quarter the Referee had words with a Sholing player following a high tackle and dismissed him a few minutes later for another challenge.
Cirencester pressed and probed but it remained 2-0 at the interval.
From the re-start Cirencester pressed forward and their opponents mounted quick counters and 9-minutes into the half Sholing pulled a goal back as CHARLIE FOX scored from near the Penalty Spot.
Shortly before the mid-point of the half REEGAN MESSENGER regained the 2-goal advantage as he drove the ball inside the far-left post.
Sholing responded to this setback to work the ball down their left channel but a late challenge on the Cirencester Captain, that resulted in him limping off the pitch, resulted in a Yellow Card being issued to the culprit who had been warned in the first half.
A couple of minutes later another challenge created a scuffle and the match was abandoned.
